The Milk Carton Kids Nominated For Americana Music Award For Duo/Group Of The Year

Grammy-nominated folk duo The Milk Carton Kids have been nominated in the best duo/group category for the Americana Music Associations’s 2014 honors. The awards ceremony will take place at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on September 17 2014.

The duo recently released a performance DVD by The Milk Carton Kids entitled Live From Lincoln Theatre which cinematically captures the group’s celebrated on-stage repartee, virtuosic flat picking guitar work and flawless vocal harmonies. The DVD is available in the Deluxe Version of their Grammy-nominated album The Ash & Clay, as a stand-alone DVD long box, and digitally.

The Milk Carton Kids are currently amidst a 46-date North American tour which has seen a majority of performances sell out months in advance. The trek will culminate with an appearance at the historic Newport Folk Festival on July 26th.

The Milk Carton Kids Nominated To Perform At Newport Folk Festival

Grammy-nominated folk duo The Milk Carton Kids have announced a string of six tour dates leading into their sophomore performance at Newport Folk Festival. The tour will see the band moving out of clubs and into theatres across the East Coast and Midwest. The duo will appear on Saturday 26 July at the historic festival in Newport, Rhode Island.

The DVD arrives on April 29 as a stand alone DVD as well as included in a deluxe version of the duo’s acclaimed album The Ash & Clay and as a digital download. The Milk Carton Kids To Appear On CBS This Morning: Saturday

The acclaimed Los Angeles based duo The Milk Carton Kids will be appearing on the national morning show CBS This Morning: Saturday this February 22. The group will be performing songs from their Grammy Nominated album, The Ash & Clay.

In the past months, The Milk Carton Kids have generated some well deserved attention with notable appearances on both Austin City Limits and Prairie Home Companion. The duo were also featured in the Showtime documentary Another Day / Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis, a film documenting a benefit concert held last September celebrating the music of the Coen Brothers’ film, Inside Llewyn Davis.

The New York Times Magazine recently reviewed their sold out performance at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series in The Allen Room writing, “There is something almost unnatural about the mellifluous harmonies of The Milk Carton Kids, something freakish. It’s hard to believe that two people can sync to each other like that” and proclaiming that the duo’s “guitar virtuosity” and “gentle blended voice and their puckish banter” “projected a kind of old-fashion authenticity in an Auto-Tune world.”

The Milk Carton Kids will be touring North American this Spring in support of their album The Ash & Clay.

The Milk Carton Kids Appear On Austin City Limits

2014 is shaping up to be a big year for The Milk Carton Kids. The Californian folk duo have announced an extensive North American tour hot off the heels of a much celebrated appearance on television review, Austin City Limits. Not only that but new album The Ash & Clay has received near universal critical acclaim and now been nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album.

Many of The Milk Carton Kids’ shows have already sold out prompting the boys to add more dates and larger venues to their already exhaustive road trip. Live their songs come to life with beautiful, flat picked guitars, interweaving harmonies and a surprising amount of laughs. The Milk Carton Kids are getting a reputation for raising a smile or two, both with their clever lyrics and friendly stage patter.

As well as the Austin City Limits appearance, Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan also appeared on the Another Day Another Time; Celebrating The Music Of Inside Llweyn Davis special and appear to be just one of a number of folk groups who could stand to ride on the coat tails of that films success. 2014 could be a big year for traditional and contemporary folk music and a big year for The Milk Carton Kids.
