EMA – Marked

EMA has released a video for her upcoming single, Marked, which is to be released on November 21 as a limited edition 7″ vinyl.

Taking the distorted rock edge away from her music, Marked sees a more gentle, naive and innocent side to EMA as she sings about a complicated relationship.

The video, shot and produced in-house by live band member Leif Shackelford and Erika M Anderson herself, focuses on strange black and white images of EMA cutting off the layers of her supposed arms which are ‘a see through plastic’. It also stars Alexis Blair Penney….Interested?

Marked firmly sets in stone the idea that EMA and her music are completely absurd yet brilliant. Her raspy voice captures the innocence and confusion in the vocals “I wish that every time he touched me / Left a mark” while the chillingly simple and distant sounding guitar riff intensify the emotions.

Zak Starkey Announces New Band PENGu!NS

Zak Starkey PENGUINS

Explosive new band, PENGu!NS

Former Oasis drummer announced his new band, PENGu!Ns, a few weeks ago.

Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr and occasionally drummer for The Who, has had a varied musical career but PENGu!Ns seems to be one of his most outrageous collaborations yet.

The messy, punk rock band are giving away a free download of their debut single, Hate Male, which interestingly tells the story of a guy on a plane who told the singer of the group, Sharna Liguz aka Sshh, to turn her IPod down. You definitely wouldn’t think such a hard, aggressive and catchy rock tune could be written about something so damningly boring but it works.

Neon Indian – Polish Girl Video

Electro-pop superstar musician, Neon Indian, has recently released a video for his new track, Polish Girl.

Directed by Tim Nackashi, who has directed video for the likes of Ok Go, Death Cab For Cutie and Givers, the video tells the story of a romance between a humanoid and a girl in a futuristic world.

Watch it here:

Neon Indian also performed Polish Girl live on Jimmy Fallon last week. Pairing up with The Creator’s Project, Neon Indian has combined his live performance with ‘dystopian cyper-fantasy’ using impressive light-painting effects which compliment the other-worldy nature of Alan Palomo’s music.
