Saintseneca’s New Album, Dark Arc, Is Out Now

The new Saintseneca album, Dark Arc, is now in stores after receiving much early acclaim from critics and fans alike. Combining the raw acoustic instrumentation of singer-songwriter Zac Little’s rural Appalachian background with atmospheric production and post-punk energy, the band’s tuneful, poetic songs soar higher than ever before. A string of performances at SXSW generated a genuine buzz with influential station KCRW writing of the band “getting the crowd riled up” and “making a great first impression,” and culminating with a profile of Zac Little in Esquire Magazine.

This week front man Little was interviewed on the national NPR show Weekend Edition. Host Rachel Martin begins the segment by proclaiming “This is not your grandpa’s Appalachia” before exploring the band’s distinctive DIY roots and penchant for merging dark themes with uplifting pop structures.

The first single from Dark Arc – a beautifully uplifting melancholic track entitled Happy Alone has already been added by influential radio stations WXPN in Philadelphia, WFUV in NYC, KUTX in Austin and Sirius XM’s The Loft and others. Early reviews have absolutely raved about this emerging band, Rolling Stone calling Dark Arc a “gem” and the Seattle Weekly writing that Saintseneca is “a delight to listen to, riding the edge between old weird Appalachian Americana and melodic indie pop.” Pitchfork proclaims that “Zac Little writes stompy folk songs that are more artfully crafted than all the bands you probably just thought of when you read the words “stompy folk songs.”
