NPR Stream Jolie Holland’s New Album, Wine Dark Sea, In Full

Jolie Holland’s new album, Wine Dark Sea (out May 19) has been receiving some of the highest praise of her career with scribes from both sides of the Atlantic loving the album’s raw delivery and timeless song craft.  This is truly a side of Jolie Holland that you’ve never heard before.

In a 9/10 review in the UK’s Uncut magazine, they call it, “…the most uninhibited and visceral album of her career” while Magnet also gave the album 9/10 raving, “…this album is magnificent” and Aquarium Drunkard described it as “…noir, lived in, caustic, not entirely of this time”.  On a recent episode of NPR’s All Songs Considered podcast, Robin Hilton stated that Jolie “…takes her sound and turns it upside down…. All I can say is strap youselves in.”

Now NPR are streaming her new record in full on their First Listen.

Saintseneca’s Debut Album, Dark Arc, Streaming In Full Now On NPR’s First Listen

Saintseneca’s music could be described as Appalachian strum meets post punk stomp, complete with ghostly harmonies and anthemic melodies. Anchored by front man Zac Little’s soulful bray and introspective poetics, Saintseneca’s debut, Dark Arc, will be available everywhere on April 1. In the meantime you can hear it in its entirety on NPR’s First Listen.

It’s been an exciting year for Columbus, Ohio’s Saintseneca with non-stop touring and a triumphant run of SXSW gigs. Their lead in single, Happy Alone, has received great reviews and picked up airplay on influential stations like WXPN in Philadelphia, WFUV in NYC, KUTX in Austin and Sirius XM’s The Loft among others.

Critics are already chiming in. Rolling Stone called the new album “…a gem…”; the Kansas City Star called their music “…keenly intelligent and rapturously beautiful” while in a recent show review, Time Out Chicago praised the band’s “…distinctive voice that stands out amid the hordes of indie folk bands in existence.”
