Two Wounded Birds Release Video For To Be Young

Two Wounded Birds released their new single To Be Young Sunday so in celebration of this, they have also placed the new video for the single online.

To Be Young is the first single to be taken from their self-titled debut album. The video is now available to watch online following it’s premiere on NME.com last Wednesday.

The video was filmed in a 100 year old Carlton cinema in Westgate-on-Sea near the band’s home town of Margate. It was directed by Dom Bridges and boasts bold colours, slick lighting and projected cartoon images that soften the bright backdrop.

With it being filmed in the old building it helps to reveal the song’s nostalgic and romantic tones while still maintaining the band’s rebellious nature.

This is what guitarist Joe Stevens had to say about the shoot: “We made the video in the Carlton Cinema in Westgate On Sea. It’s one of the few places that uses analogue projection. The seats are velvet and the whole place has the feeling of another time.  The cartoons are also from a different time. One of them is a journey through space and all the planets have the faces of Gods on them, they look like marbles.

In the video at one point you can see cows leaning out of the window of a space shuttle and dancing with each other. In another two poor kids in rags go to sleep and wake up in paradise together. Reality is something you don’t consider when you’re young, things like this make total sense and the world’s a better place for it.”

Two Wounded Birds Announce First Headline UK Tour

Two Wounded Birds released the details of their first headline UK tour last week. With the release of their long-awaited debut album under their belts, Two Wounded Birds are now approaching the release of their next single To Be Young on August 5 alongside their October tour.

Two Wounded Birds

Two Wounded Birds

To Be Young is a blend of perfect pop 80s style vocals mixed with a diner ballad sound. It’s gentle, it’s thoughtful and just an all round good pop song (don’t worry not pop in the sense of Lady GaGa or Rihanna though). Two Wounded Birds have a sound that sounds vintage and reminiscent, something which is lacking in the music industry.

The band have also put together a promotional video for their UK tour. You can watch it below:

Two Wounded Birds Self-Titled Debut Album Out Soon

Two Wounded Birds are back with the news that their self-titled debut album will be released on June 11 through Holiday Recordings which is owned by Jacob Graham of The Drums.

Following their recent tour with Glasvegas and their appearances at Camden Crawl and Live at Leeds, Two Wounded Birds are planning to continue touring and playing festival shows throughout the summer.

After releasing what became critically acclaimed singles and EPs, the band have won their fans over and landed themselves the chance to play with the likes of Grouplove, The Black Lips and The Drums.

Two Wounded Birds

Jacob Graham describes what Two Wounded Birds and their self-titled debut are all about: “…a palpable emotion proving that the rebel does have a heart after all and perhaps feels even more deeply than the rest of us.

“It’s easy to see why these rising stars caught the ears of such legends as Brian Wilson and Debbie Harry. Their songs capture the American spirit with clear allegiances to the Beach Boys, the Ramones and Elvis—all while still acknowledging the band’s British roots. You won’t hear any Elton John-style American accents here; instead, Johnny Danger’s sound recalls the velvety tones of Colin Blunstone in his Zombies heyday—a voice with true character.

“In an age in which the shroud of “pop” can describe any poorly constructed jingle that comes along, it’s nice to see the dust settle and discover the genuine article…. Here you will find proof that sincere pop songs are truly timeless.”

You can listen to album tracks To Be Young here and The Outer World here. Two Wounded Birds will be released on June 11.

You can catch Two Wounded Birds live at the following shows:

June 9th London Rough Trade West

June 22nd London Shacklewell Arms

June 29th Coventry Godiva Festival

July 6th Rome, Italy Atlantico Live Rome

Two Wounded Birds – The Outer World

With only three weeks until Two Wounded Birds release their self-titled debut album, they have revealed brand new track, The Outer World.

Two Wounded Birds

Two Wounded Birds

The Outer World is one of the record’s more melancholic tunes. With sad guitar riffs and droning yet pleasant vocals, this track shows the deeper side to band, a side which hasn’t been shown in their previous work. Listen to The Outer World here.

Two Wounded Birds will be released on June 4 on Jacob Graham’s (The Drums) label, Holiday Recordings. Jacob Graham has this to say about the band: “It’s easy to see why these rising stars caught the ears of such legends as Brian Wilson and Debbie Harry.
