Boxed In Reveals B-Side To All Your Love Is Gone

With a-side All Your Love Is Gone stacking up the plays and scoring praise across the web and radio, Boxed In has recently revealed the b-side to his debut single.

Described by The Guardian as “a Hot Chip-ish dance delight”, Legacy is the second of two tracks that will make up Boxed In’s 7” single release on November 25 through Moshi Moshi Singles Club.

Boxed In played a sold out show last Wednesday with Summer Camp and Fimber Bravo at Servants Jazz Quarters in Dalston as part of Moshi Moshi’s 15th birthday celebrations.

Despite working as an in demand producer and juggling numerous collaborations and live ventures, Boxed In is Oli Bayston’s first solo venture. The name is loosely derived from Francis Bacon’s infamous Head VI, once described as ‘the operation through which the entire body escapes through the mouth’, a definition that lends itself to the idea of singing.

The single was produced by Dan Carey whose previous production credits include Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip, Bat For Lashes and Toy. It features the ever steady and talented work of fellow band members Liam Hutton on drums and Mark Nicholls on bass.

You can catch Boxed In live on the following date:
2 Dec London The Waiting Room (Tickets)

Introducing…Boxed In

Moshi Moshi Singles Club are pleased to introduce Boxed In to their roster.

Boxed In can also be known as the London-based producer who goes by the name of Oli Bayston. Boxed In are set to release the 7” single All Your Love Is Gone/Legacy on November 25.

A-side All Your Love Is Gone builds a crescendo of sparse beats, driving bass and modulated guitars, topped by Bayston’s bleak yet engaging vocal refrain of “All your love is gone”. It’s a great track which feels similar in style to The Cure, especially in regards to the non try hard vocals. It has that slightly depressing yet secretly summery feel to it. All Your Love Is Gone captures the sound made popular by the likes of The Cure in the late 70s, early 80s reproducing that very British indie rock sound.

You can catch Boxed In live on the following dates:

Oct 30 London Servant’s Jazz Quarters – Moshi Moshi 15th Birthday Party (Tickets)
Dec 2 London The Waiting Room (Tickets)

Nothankyou Reveal Second Track Of Double A-Side Single, Know Yourself / Oyster

Following the success of the avidly devoured first official track from Nothankyou, Know Yourself, Tom Vek and Olga Bell present new song Oyster.

Nothankyou

Tom Vek and Olga Bell of Nothankyou

Nothankyou is the new project from Olga Bell and Tom Vek. Nothankyou’s debut single is a double a-side 7” titled Know Yourself/Oyster that will be released through Moshi Moshi records on August 5 2013.

Hailing from opposite sides of the Atlantic, Bell and Vek first met over mid-aughts Myspace during what Tom refers to as “a window of about a week when I was speaking to people over social media”. They kept in touch, seeing each other every few years in Vek’s London or Bell’s New York, until eventually and inevitably, they found themselves at the same Creators Project party in Brazil.

Olga asked if Tom was working on any new tracks. Tom played her a rough instrumental. Thumb drives flashed, flash drives hummed, Myspace rolled over in its grave and back in Brooklyn Olga added topline and keyboard parts before sending the track back to Tom. After a few exchanges they had one finished song. After a few more, they had two.

Listen to the new track, Osyter, from Nothankyou here.
