Laura Gibson’s next single The Fire is set for release on April 9 to coincide with her UK tour. To celebrate this news, she is giving away a free download of the track on Soundcloud.

The Fire is taken from Laura Gibson’s critically acclaimed album, La Grande. It’s a song full of bluesy, folk tones that instantly transport you to a time long forgotten. Her unique voice echoes through your ears at the beginning while it’s accompanied by the folk guitar before the song picks up more energy. Being one of the more upbeat tracks on La Grande, The Fire produces happy images of peaceful summer days.

Laura Gibson – La Grande

After recently announcing her six date tour across the UK, Laura Gibson has now also unveiled her video for new track La Grande.

The video is directed by Alicia J. Rose and was filmed at The Hot Lake Hotel in the town of La Grande, Oregon which was the inspiration for the song in the first place.

It’s a fantastic song accompanied by an eerie video which will keep you hooked.

Laura Gibson had this to say about the shoot: “The owners were kind enough to let us take over the third floor for two days. We had about twenty people in the cast and crew, and spent that night between shooting running through the halls, listening to the loud howling wind, peeking into corners, searching for ghosts. It was the night of the lunar eclipse, when the moon was glowing red. I did not see a single ghost. Oh! My nephew Asher is the little boy! The kids were such pros.”

Gibson’s unique folk music and jazz inspired vocals are shooting her to fame seeing her receive four stars in The Evening Standard after her performance at The Social earlier this month. She has also received excellent album reviews from MOJO to Star Magazine.

You can catch her live at the following dates in April:

8th: DEVON, Totnes Studio Lounge
10th: LONDON, Lexington
11th: LIVERPOOL, Leaf
12th: LEEDS, Brudenell Social Club
13th: BRIGHTON, Komedia Bar
14th: BRISTOL, Louisiana

Laura Gibson – Milk-Heavy, Pollen-Eyed

Laura Gibson has just announced that her new album La Grande will be released in January 2012 and in order to celebrate the news, she’s released a free download of her latest track, Milk-Heavy, Pollen-Eyed. There’s also an acoustic video to go with it, you lucky people.

Born in the small town of Coquille, Oregon, Gibson started out by playing solo acoustic gigs at AIDS hospices and kindergartens. Now she is quickly making a name for herself in the modern folk music scene.

Her unique vocals howl through on Milk-Heavy, Pollen-Eyed and compliment the heavier tones and faster tempo of the song.

The beat of the track will have your feet tapping along within a few seconds and you will begin to sway to the melodic folk rhythm.

Her new album, La Grande, is said to bring out Gibson’s inner strength after her previous record, Beast of Seasons, showed her frailty and quietness. La Grande is a record expected to be full of passion and power.
