I Killed The Prom Queen’s New Album, Beloved, Out Now

I Killed The Prom Queen’s first new album in six years, Beloved, is out today in the US. Fans can purchase the album by visiting iTunes.

The largely anticipated new album and the first I Killed The Prom Queen release with Epitaph has been called a “dynamic beast” by Alternative Press, giving it four out of five stars.

Since forming in Adelaide, Australia in 2000, I Killed The Prom Queen have maintained a standard of excellence that has placed them head and shoulders above the pack. Hitting their peak around 2006 with the release of their sophomore effort, Music For The Recently Deceased, the five-piece garnered local chart success and built a loyal worldwide following. However in 2008, mounting pressure and internal strife led to their premature demise. Yet, ironically, the hugely successful Say Goodbye Australian tour, which was to be the band’s swan song, gave them the impetus to continue.

For several years the band lay dormant, as members went on to play in other bands. In 2011, I Killed The Prom Queen reclaimed their sound, style, history and legacy with an all new line up and original member Jona Weinhofen who spent time with Bleeding Through and Bring Me The Horizon. Joined by new screamer Jamie Hope, Shane O’Brien on drums, Kevin Cameron on guitar, Benjamin Coyte on bass and, of course, Jona bringing vocal choruses, guitar and keyboard to the mix.

I Killed The Prom Queen entered the studio in 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden with Fredrik Nordström (Bring Me The Horizon, At The Gates, In Flames, Dimmu Brogir, Architects UK) to record Beloved, their much-anticipated third album.

Weinhofen said: “We’ve really extended ourselves but we’ve done it in a way where it’s tasteful and it makes sense with the music. It’s not like we’ve gone from sounding like a metalcore band to sounding like Dimmu Borgir. It still sounds very much like Prom Queen.”

Having overcome so much adversity during their 13-year existence, I Killed The Prom Queen have a fresh lease on life and a new found desire to leave an indelible mark on the world stage.

Beloved is the first new album from I Killed The Prom Queen in six years and they are primed for their re-launch of epic proportions. I Killed The Prom Queen Reveal Video For Latest Track, Thirty One & Sevens

Australian metalcore groundbreakers, I Killed The Prom Queen, unleash a video for latest track, Thirty One & Sevens. Watch the band perform their fiery new song in a post-apocalyptic world in the video (below), directed by Ryan Chamley in Geelong, Australia.

Thirty One & Sevens is a signature Prom Queen tune encompassing everything the band does well – monstrous riffing, jackhammer drumming and vocals that run the gamut from possessed death roars to emotive melodic overtures.

I Killed The Prom Queen returns to the US on the unstoppable Take Action Tour on March 12 in Ventura, CA with The Devil Wears Prada, The Ghost Inside and Dangerkids. Take Action Tour 2014 is presented by Living The Dream Foundation. Now in its twelfth year, the tour will help benefit the Living The Dream Foundation, a non-profit organisation that provides hope and inspiration to children and young adults afflicted with life threatening diseases. Ten percent of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to Living The Dream and Sub City to help further this cause making each person attending an active participant in making the world a better place.  For more information on the Living The Dream Foundation and Take Action, please visit www.livingthedreamfoundation.org and www.takeactiontour.com.

Beloved, the newest album from I Killed The Prom Queen, is to be released on February 18 2014 on Epitaph Records in the US/February 17 in EU/February 14 in Australia. Fans are invited to pre-order Beloved by visiting epitaphstore.com.

By their own admission, I Killed The Prom Queen have endured a decidedly checkered past. Over the years the band saw multiple vocalist changes and other personnel exchanges, side-project sojourns and moonlighting in other bands, hiatuses and break-ups. Yet through it all, their musical output both live and on record has remained thoroughly inspired. I Killed The Prom Queen today is Jona Weinhofen formerly of Bring Me The Horizon on guitar/vocals/keyboard, Kevin Cameron on guitar, Jamie Hope as the screamer, ex-Day of Contempt Ben Coyte on bass and ex-Confession and Buried in Verona’s Shane O’Brien on drums.

I Killed The Prom Queen Reveal New Album Details

Australian metalcore predecessors, I Killed The Prom Queen, have reunited and are thrilled to be back to share their first album in six years. Beloved is to be released on February 18 2014 on Epitaph Records in the US and February 14 in Australia.

A brief history for the uninitiated: In 2000, I Killed The Prom Queen formed in Adelaine, Australia. In 2002, the band released their first EP Choose to Love, Live or Die with their original member lineup. From 2003-2005, the band released a split with like-minded locals Parkway Drive, put out various releases and experienced lineup changes. In 2006 with the release of their sophomore effort, Music For The Recently Deceased, the five-piece garnered local chart success and built a loyal worldwide following. However in 2008, mounting pressure and internal strife led to their premature demise. I Killed The Prom Queen Sign To Epitaph Records

Trailblazing Australian metalcore outfit, I Killed The Prom Queen is back and have officially signed to Epitaph Records worldwide. They will release their long-anticipated, third studio LP in 2014.

Catch up on hardcore history and reacquaint yourself with I Killed The Prom Queen and watch their teaser video now (below).

Following his stint with Bring Me The Horizon, songwriter and guitarist Jona Weinhofen returns to his role in I Killed The Prom Queen and he states: “We are absolutely ecstatic to join the Epitaph Records family. Having worked with the label previously with Bring Me The Horizon, I knew exactly what Epitaph was capable of and that it would be the perfect home for I Killed The Prom Queen. Epitaph is already the home to so many of our heroes such as Converge, Refused, Pennywise and Every Time I Die and has helped launch our good friends Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside, Day Of Contempt, Letlive and more. To say that we are a part of this family is truly an honour.”

The band has just finalised the recording process in Gothenburg, Sweden with Fredrik Nordström (Bring Me The Horizon, At The Gates, In Flames, Dimmu Brogir, Architects UK), with plans to release the new material in 2014. Jona Weinhofen continues: “We are dying to get this album out and into the hands of old and new I Killed The Prom Queen fans everywhere. To me this record feels as though I Killed The Prom Queen never took a break and is a natural progression of the band. You will hear hints of our side projects and new influences but make no mistake, this is an I Killed The Prom Queen record through and through. Its fast, melodic, heavy, catchy and we have added a couple of new elements which really bring it up there with the level of music being created these days.”

I Killed The Prom Queen is also making plans to tour in 2014 in support of the new album. Stay tuned for further details.
