Dreamers

Dreamers

Prepare to embark on a journey with Dreamers with their unique brand of grunge that is nostalgic for a space somewhere between art-school eccentric and the late 1970s punk scene. The band have recently made their debut on Interview Magazine with their new single, Wolves.

With their debut album release, This Album Does Not Exist set to be released later this year in November, Dreamers are ready to send their kaleidoscopic sound out into the universe. Their music will tug at your heartstrings and have you dancing around the room all in one fell swoop.

Introducing…Lupa

Introducing Lupa, a 16-year-old indie electronica singer-songwriter from Sydney otherwise known as Imogen Jones.

Lupa

Lupa

A classically trained musician, Lupa comes to the indie scene with a fresh take on electronic production. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of artists, from Grimes to Laura Marling and Radiohead, she integrates her skills as a violinist with synthesised instrumentation and delicate vocal layering to create a unique, alluring sound.

Proving herself an intuitively gifted songwriter and musician Lupa writes, records and produces each of her tracks entirely independently, delivering beautifully textured electronic pop that has a lyrical maturity far beyond her years. Her debut single Statues is a direct, poetic and musically sophisticated window into the heart of today’s teenage girl; an unsettling and unforgettable listen.

Statues is out now available online and through iTunes with an undoubtedly impressive EP set to follow in the coming months.

Introducing…Balue

Balue

Balue

Aztec, New Mexico’s one-man-bedroom-pop-machine Balue is back with another feel good song full of sunny guitars, hand claps, and woozy electronic loops. His latest release is Grow Up.

Quiet Dreamer, due out June 24 (right after the first day of Summer) on cassette/digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records, is wrapped in a bright and carefree surf aesthetic that’s sunburned by warm guitars, wafts of psych-pop vocals and a thick tremolo haze. Grow Up finds Balue reflecting on his Peter Pan Syndrome as he weaves layers of synths and electronic loops in and out of hand claps, shimmering guitars and bongos.

Billy Fox Releases Video For Single, Mystery

Having already been described online as a “space sex death match”, the brand new video from Sydney producer, writer and musician Billy Fox for his silky new single Mystery is already widening pupils for its execution of a clever and scientifically accurate sci-fi retro romance.

It’s been an upward incline of late for Fox whose smoky, electronic RnB soundscapes have been touted as following in the footsteps of James Blake and Sam Smith since the release of his debut single Monuments late last year. UK blog The Line Of Best Fit premiered Mystery and called it: “…a shivering, saccharine, emotion-packed song; the sort of tune that allows you to drift off and relax.”

And now the Billy Fox machine has a live show. His recent slot in front of a mid-afternoon crowd at the Sunshine Coast’s Big Pineapple Festival roused a big response as he slipped out a set of originals, live remixes and a (very) cheeky cover of an Australian classic. With a debut seven-track mini-album due for release soon, Billy Fox is one member of the burgeoning Aus electronic scene whose songs not only transcend the homogonised but also are here to stay.

Son Lux Releases New EP, Alternate Worlds, Featuring Lorde

Introducing Alternate Worlds, the new EP from producer/composer Son Lux. The EP reimagines four songs from his recent album Lanterns and includes a collaboration with Lorde. These exquisite reinventions traverse unfamiliar terrain within remembered landscapes. Their world is both alien and familiar.

Alternate Worlds is currently available digitally with a vinyl release date of May 26. All vinyl pre-orders include an instant download of every song. The EP will be released in three distinct vinyl editions, each pressed on 12″, 45rpm (loud-cut) vinyl:

Alternate World (Alternate Age) is a dark, haunting song. It suits the ‘Alternate World’ title completely; it’s disorientating and random. There is a slightly dub-step style to it but not so much so as to ruin this track.

Previous single releases, Lost It To Trying (Mouths Only Lying) and Easy (Switch Screens) feat. Lorde, both appear on the EP reinvented, of course. Easy is a song that never gets boring.

Build A Pyre (Begin Again) has fast tempo synths blended with the long, exasperated vocals makes for an interesting yet odd listen. There is a chorus of voices which also compliment the rest of the haunting, unusual sounds heard on this track; they sound distant leading this song to be unnerving. It’s a completely ‘out there’ track and is unlike anything else. It’s daring and atmospheric. It’s all these things yet the music has been kept simple, comprising of only a few distinct elements (synths/vocals choruses/harmonies/bass drum/).

Physical copies of Son Lux’s new EP, Alternate Worlds, will be available from May 26.
