Vulkano Announce News Of Debut Album Set For Release In February

Swedish post-punk duo Vulkano have announced news of their debut album Live Wild Die Free which is set for release on February 3 2014. In anticipation of this record, they have unveiled a new track Vulkano from the LP and have also announced a string of UK tour dates to take place this week.

Speaking about the track, one half of Vulkano, Cissi stated: “It’s a very honest song. Friendships can crush hearts and the song is about feeling betrayed and unfairly treated by people close to you. I gathered a lot of aggression until I couldn’t hold it inside any more and it all exploded, like a volcano.”

Vulkano are an explosive new duo pushing punk forward in their own charming way. With a passion for astrology, the paranormal and nature, healing stones, tropical landscapes, mythology and mountains, Vulkano are made up of the constantly head-banging Lisa Pyk-Wirström (keyboards/percussion) and the tour de force, the hissing feline Cissi Efraimsson (drums/lead vocals).

Since erupting onto the scene earlier this year, the girls attracted a variety of attention when they performed across the UK supporting Kate Nash. Alongside this, they have also been busy directing their own psychedelic short film in their Swedish home-town. But that’s not all because the real focus is their gutsy, potent punk full of hooks, chaos and straight-up boundless energy which is clear to see in their forthcoming album, Live Wild Die Free.

Vulkano’s debut album will be released on February 3 2014 through Vulkano Music. It’s a mix of songs that aren’t for the faint hearted with the band’s full throttle sound paving the way. Uncompromising, extrovert and maximalist whether this be in the monkey-like sounds in In The Jungle or the more accessible electronic drones of Choir of Wolves, it is sure that this is a captivating band that are worthy of your attention.

Taking inspiration from Pink Floyd (especially the live clips from Pompeii), Siouxie & the Banshees, Bo Hansson, Velvet Underground and films such as Lucifer Rising, Barbarella, Holy Mountain and 2001: A Space Odyssey, Vulkano want to explore the realms of art, music, film, fashion and performance. They want to amaze, make people react and interact and they want to abuse their art school roots.

Vulkano’s live show is a power unto itself. If they could, they’d have steaming hot bombastic shows containing choreography, costumes, magic tricks and light displays, creating a world where everything is possible.

4  December – Gullivers, Manchester (Tickets)
