Broken Twin Signs To Anti-

Anti- has announced the signing of Danish artist Broken Twin; the synonym of a young and exciting musician, Majke Voss Romme. Broken Twin will be the first-ever Scandinavian artist to sign with Anti- worldwide, joining the roster of such notables as Beth Orton, Neko Case, Tom Waits and Wilco.

“I feel quite overwhelmed and proud that Anti- will be releasing my debut album and also lucky and privileged to release my music on a label that has worked with so many of my favourite artists in the world.

“Their faith in my music makes me feel very honoured. The making of this album, which is a collection of songs written over the past 3 years, has been challenging, exciting and frightening at the same time.”

After listening to and being inspired by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Bill Callahan, Nico and Nick Drake, Broken Twin has found her own sound by delivering haunting compositions with a vocal beauty which echoes the strength and eeriness of the northern hemisphere.  Romme said: “I like to work within my own little bubble whenever I write songs.

“It’s a very personal process and the songs have a strong connection to myself; a theme, a feeling, an experience or a state of mind.”

Her 2012 self-released EP Hold On To Nothing and deeply moving live performances have already begun to cause a stir in the renowned music media. NME declared that: “Broken Twin is the most arrestingly beautiful songwriter we’ve heard in aeon” while Pitchfork stated that: “there’s something about the unaffected clarity of Broken Twin that rings true straight away.”
