Gum Takes Tooth Release Video For This Perfect Surface

Psychedelic double-drum/electronic combo Gum Takes Tooth have released a new video for their latest release, This Perfect Surface. It’s an introduction to their upcoming second album which is due for release next Spring. The track was “…influenced by their work with psychedelic improvisation collective Moon Ra as well as contemporary music from the middle east and the Sahara”.

The middle eastern influence is strong in the vocal chants and drum beat style. However, psychedelic can equate to hard to access in regards to This Perfect Surface. Nevertheless, this is actually a melodic and appealing number while also being modern and challenging.

The video is live performance-based, shot in black and white, using fast forward and fast cuts to echo the energy of the track. There is freshness and a unique sound here – once heard always recognised.

Live appearances this year included Den Haag’s State-X Newforms, Glastonbury, The Great Escape and Woodland Gathering festivals.

You can catch Gum Takes Tooth live on the following dates:

Fri 10 Jan @ The Courtyard Theatre, London

Sat 1 Feb – Baba Yaga’s Hut @ Electrowerkz, London

NB: VIDEO VISUALS INCLUDE FLASHING/STROBE LIGHT EFFECT.
